Name of the host: Inanimanti

What does the host do: Inanimanti is the first and only Italian blog entirely focused on posthuman in the arts. Through articles, reports and interview with artists and creatives it intends to provide an overview of artistic practices dealing with things like: new technologies, inorganic matter, human enhancement, interspecies ties, Artificial Intelligence, hybrid identities, speculative design, Anthropocene, cyborgs, robotics, feminism, genes, fungi, algae, monsters and so on, in a post-anthropocentric and interdisciplinary perspective. The blog is conceived in fluid status, spanning from the Avantgarde to Bioart, with the dream to provide a link between academic research and the non-professional public.

WPG Description: An observatory open to all artists who are reflecting on the digital space and do research on how new technologies are changing the relationship humans have with the senses and with the body.

What I am looking for: Research-based art questioning what it means to be human in the digital age, highlighting the specificity of the digital realm and internet communications versus the physical space, against the obsolete dichotomy real vs fiction. I also would like to get to know artworks about human-machine affectivity, digital intimacy, digital identity, human-nonhuman interactions. Female artists are more than welcome.

Keywords: #posthuman #posthumanart #humanbody #digitalspace #digitalintimacy #technoethics #newmediart

Current exhibition: Licking the screen. Vision as a bodily act -

When it comes to digital environment everything can be said but that it is tactile. Moreover, the sense of touch is precisely the main thing humans are missing when entering the online space. Feeling as we are leaving our bodies behind, we tend to believe we are experiencing something like a dream, but more and more frequently we are faced with visuals that make us want to break the screen, showing that the border is not really so clear. Putting together four young contemporary artists/studios devoted to the digital image-making this exhibition aims at questioning the outdated idea of vision as an act of pure optical and intellectual stimuli, and gives an insight into how photography, 3D modeling, and video are re-inventing materiality today.

Upcoming show: Open for suggestions.

Name of host: Lila Moore

What does the host do: Lila Moore, PhD is an artist film-maker, academic lecturer, visionary theorist and technoetic ritualist.

WGP Description: White Empathy Box is an altered edition of the Black Empathy Box described in Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? In principle, the empathy box is designed to transport the users to visionary realms and fuse their minds into a single experience of consciousness. It was originally designed as a spiritual device that transfers and shares states of consciousness and deep feelings between users in real time. The users, who are scattered on planet Earth and in human colonies in outer space, experience a spiritual fusion and the highlighting of particular feelings when they connect to the empathy box. The original box is equipped with audio-visual screen and virtual reality capacity. The White Empathy Box on WPG generates a non-local space-time and a field of consciousness made of states of consciousness shared by dispersed participants/users. These states are embedded and activated online. The white Empathy box is an experiential exploration of altered and expanded states, a deep spectrum of feelings ranging from sorrow to joy, ritualistic ecstasy, peek experience, magic(k)al apparitions and double consciousness. It is also an exploration of our remote cyber hyper-connectivity, and our networked consciousness in cosmic, unbound space-time.

What I am looking for: Works that explore states of consciousness and the interaction of group consciousness online, on screen, and in virtual and mixed reality. The White Empathy Box exhibits more than one artist per show for the purpose of creating an interactive online environment that induces a sense of shared consciousness. It welcomes works that involve performance, dance movement and ritual, though most styles that engage with the main theme are applicable.

Keywords: #technoetics #technoeticarts #networkedrites #networkedperformance #screendance #cyborg #consciousness #doubleconsciousness #empathy #compassion #ritualmagic #spiritual #occult #shaman

Current exhibition: Year Zero Year Zero curated by the White Empathy Box reflects on Year Zero of the Coronavirus pandemic, starting a new trajectory for 21st century humanity. At this stage of development, we need healing - mental, physical and spiritual, and philosophical quests supported by technoetic sensibility, spiritual aesthetics as well as scientific and technological formulations that would enlighten humanity at this critical crossroad.
Featuring artworks by Sonia Lara,Terry Trickett, Degard, Seeker_of_True-files, & Lila Moore.

- WPG Description: "Gallery that does not exist" does not exist. The existence of this gallery means that it is able to host what no one wants to host. The art that is too simple, too complex or just way too random. That art that no one wants, I want it.

Name of the host: Konstantina Mavridou

What does the host do: Provides the space for posing questions & maybe finding some answers :)

WPG Description: This WPG space is an attempt to bring awareness around the Ethics of Internet [EoI]. It is an open discussion on the blurry in-betweenness of ethics at a private, social and public level. However, I would like to raise that the focus is not around the obvious ethical matters, like cybercrime, privacy, property & rights, accessibility, censorship, freedom, filtering, spamming, trolling, fraud. The focus will be on the following paradox that seems to be happening the last years; despite of GDPR laws, limitations and bans for databridges & heavy data tracking that are applied to organisations, internet & services providers of various types, but also wider consumer product businesses across sectors - which seem to be more aggressively usingconsumers’ behavioural data, using and promoting Gen Z ( Generation Z ) characteristics and what it takes tocreate a ‘good’ branding ( ‘Driving the value from experience’ ), so they target larger audiences, in order tomassively control the behaviours via social media marketing, targeting & content creation functionalities. It is very important to mention the characteristics defined by the market of Gen Z: More Global | Under the Influence | More demanding | Eager to stand out | After experiences | Pro social ( responsibility ) - “Ethics and message aremost important to me… you cannot expect people to buy your products if your ethics are trash.” Female, 17, US.
Based on the above ‘key insight’ businesses need to use and analyse consumer data at a personalised level inorder to be ahead of the market competition and so Gen Z is ‘satisfied’. At the same time these generation definitions were invented by the same research centres and experts of consumerism of the same markets. The same principles are applied by companies across sectors from daily products to very new high-end technology like AI, IoT and financial services.
The space is open to works around the ethics of the crossovers of spaces of the internet - do people demandor markets themselves build a non-ethical loop of ethics to be followed?

What I'm looking for: Open for video|image|text works, critical research, mixed reality works.

Keywords: #image #video #sound #glitch #conceptual #virtualinstallation #mixedreality #data #IoT #ethics#definitions #criticalresearch #audiences

What does the host do: Classic of net.art

WPG description: According to the "Web Dogma 95" that I still have to write (dammit, stop postponing) I want to remind everybody of the utopian intuitions of the heroic period of net.art. So it makes sense to invite humans to submit their favourite pixels to be included in the very sacred territory of my home page. The early negotiations are still under way so it is too early to announce when exactly and in which of the great art museums I will install the show of 8-10 selected best pixels. At this stage I want you to know that something's cooking.

What I am looking for: I want YOU to look closely at your favourite file and extract the best and most exciting pixel. It is completely irrelevant if the file was created by you or if it was intended to be art. It will be displayed with utmost respect in order to allow it to convey your (artistic) intention. In addition to the digital exhibition, accepted recipients will be interviewed for a feature in the publication about their process and experiences.

What I'm looking for: Digital works that can be exhibited in a web page format, particularly those that reflect learning. Are you primarily a video artist, but used some 3D models in your latest work? Are you a backend dev by day, but have been learning to paint? Have you spent the last year working on a new ML library, and want everyone to fork it on Github and make it into something new?
